How to Get a Chauffeur License in Chicago

Being a public chauffeur driver requires a license issued by the City of Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP). Licenses are issued for a variety of public chauffeurs, including pedicabs, taxis, and others. If you don’t have a license and operate a public chauffeured vehicle, fines and impoundment can occur.

Public chauffeur training is required and is offered at a variety of locations. Training includes the required components outlined here. After successful completion of the course, new applicants apply via this form. Any person applying for a public chauffeur job in Chicago is required to partake in this process, as well as drug testing and a physical exam – there are BACP locations approved for this process but applicants may also use their personal physicians.
